FanExpo Canada 2014 - Saturday and Sunday, with haul!

It's been a few days since FanExpo, and I can feel the Con Crud starting to set in. It never fails that 4 days of not enough sleep, crappy food and tens of thousands of people in not nearly enough space ends with me being sick, but it's also always worth it!

This post is going to cover Saturday and Sunday, and also I'm going to show you pictures of some of the stuff I got! Saturday is by far the busiest day of the weekend, though this year, even Thursday was busy, and I found it tricky to take too many photos simply due to the sheer amount of people. I did still get some fun shots, and I hope you enjoy them!

Oh, and maybe I found a TARDIS on a hill!

My husband and I were Miss Piggy and Kermit again this time, and the costumes were definitely a hit! This is a really fun costume for me to wear, and I can't wait to have another chance!

Though thanks to the humid weather outside and the stuffy air inside the convention centre, the pig nose didn't make it. I took it off really early in the day for my own sanity, and even though I was disappointed I had to do it, there's no point in making yourself miserable. In the future I may look into wearing it with an elastic instead of gluing it on, but we'll see!

My friend Jill as the Scarlet Witch!

An amazing Rufio and Hook we saw while waiting in line for the Twin Peaks reunion panel!

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the cult TV show, Twin Peaks. Ben and I are fans, and so we were excited to go to this panel featuring Sherrilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise. Saturday night we also went to a screening of the film, Fire Walk With Me where they did a Q&A to introduce it. These three are all awesome and clearly love each other, and the stories they told were really interesting to hear!

I was also super excited to see this Audrey Horne cosplayer!

And this girl who was dressed as one of the "hostesses" from One Eyed Jacks. So great! Also love those dresses on the other two girls.

Miss Piggy never found a red carpet she didn't work!

Star-Lord and an amazing Groot!

Mugatu!

Elizabeth and Booker from BioShock: Infinite, the one video game I actually play!

We found a Box Troll!

And of course I made friends!

I also made friends with this gorgeous owl named Ruby, and I got to pet her! Totally a highlight, haha.

Ben and I stopped by Adventure Time for some photos. I think we fit right in, don't you?

Merida, Ariel, Anna and the Winter Soldier. This is the only photo of a Winter Soldier I took, but let me tell you, there were a lot of them! It was really interesting to see how each of them did their arm in a different way.

This was the best Gamora I saw all weekend, and how cute is Harley? I loved her hair and she was so sweet! Which is probably the wrong thing to say about Harley Quinn, but it was true!

When we left in the afternoon, we found the TO TARDIS waiting on the hill. I was super excited to see it again, since I took some awesome photos with it last year, and I mean, I was Pigs in Space Piggy, I needed a spaceship!

The fellow dressed as the Doctor is also the builder of the TARDIS, and he always has ideas of photos he wants to take. Here I am bidding adieu to my sweet Kermie for a madman with a box!

The thrills of travelling through time and space are pretty tempting, not going to lie.

But it would be even better if I could go on my own...

And take my Kermie with me!

Sunday, I didn't dress up, but Jill was Emma from Once Upon a Time! We got in really early on Sunday so the aisles were pretty empty, which was awesome for taking a last spin through Artist's Alley.

That's where I found this amazing Queen of Hearts with her incredible umbrella!

Over at the LEGO booth, they had the full collection of Star Wars minifigs on display. I think three sides of this display were full of them!

I know I already posted photos of Smaug, but he's so cool, I couldn't help it. I don't know if you can tell, but his belly is actually glowing as well!

This angle is pretty scary, right?

I don't think I'm nearly menacing enough to be sitting on this throne!

There were a few roaming Rabbids which just make me smile.

For a donation to Sick Kids Hospital, Ben and I got to go and take a few photos of these awesome Daleks.

Including this one, with the squid-thing inside exposed!

This Astrid cosplayer was amazing! All the details seemed totally spot-on to me.

And I loved this Wall-E too! Very creative!

Speaking of creative, check out this Elliot complete with ET and Reese's Pieces in her basket!

This photo is kind of a long story, but it was sort of a highlight of the weekend for us! The gentleman in the centre is JP Manoux, who you may know from Phil of the Future, or from playing the Doppledeaner on Community. A few years ago, my friends and I dressed as if we were from the "darkest timeline" on Community, complete with felt beards and we went to say hi to JP and he loved our beards and took our photo. The next year we went back to see him again and not only did he remember us, he still had the photo on his phone (and had shown it to the cast of Community!) so we took a photo of all of us holding the photo. This year we continued the meta tradition!

These S.H.I.E.L.D. ID cards were totally the coolest free swag of the weekend!

And that's it! It's always hard to leave at the end of the weekend, but I was also definitely ready to relax and sleep in my own bed again!

This was all my free swag! My favourites are the DJ Pon3 vs Soundwave print, the Pixels sunglasses and that Pennyfarthing pin from The Prisoner. We got those from a fellow attendee for being the first people to recognize them!

I MAY have a small problem with blind boxes...maybe. If you want to see what's inside all of these boxes, stay tuned! I'm going to do a video of those, once I get my voice back!

Technically I didn't buy that Ghoulia at FanExpo, but I did pick it up from my friend there, so I'm counting it. The lower shirt came free with our weekend passes, but I purchased the one on the top with the SuperPony! Again, stay tuned for reviews of Ghoulia and Effie, and let me know if you'd like to see a post on the POP figures, or the Simpsons figure as well!

Finally, I purchased this adorable little guy from Monster Factory who's name is Max. Monster Factory is a company that makes these awesome plushies in Canada, in kind of smaller numbers in their studio, and we've built up a small collection of these unique little guys! Also, I bought the Ponyville ComiCon print from Katie Cook, and I love it! I can't wait to get it framed.

So, that's it for FanExpo 2014! It's always the highlight of my year and this year was no exception. I'm already looking forward to next year, even as I sniffle and sneeze and put new bandaids on all my blisters! I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of what I saw this year, and stay tuned for videos and posts on the stuff I bought, to bring this blog back around to toys!

    1. We made several trips to that booth over the course of the weekend, it's always so hard to choose which one to bring home!
