Monster High 2014 San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Announcement!

Matty Collector just announced that the Monster High Exclusive at this years San Diego Comic Con is going to be a two-pack of popular background characters Iris Clops and Manny Taur. This set will retail for $40 at the convention, and will apparently be available on Matty Collector after the convention, though it will be very hard to get your hands on this set, based on what I know from past exclusives!

I think Iris in particular is adorable, and I love how different Manny is! I would love to get my hands on this set, but at the moment I'm not really sure how likely that is going to be. I'll have to decide how much I want it and how much I'm willing to spend and go from there. It is likely that these two will get later wide releases based on former exclusives like Scarah and Wydowna, so there will probably be another chance if you miss on out on them now.

What do you think of this two pack? Are you going to try to get you hands on them? Better yet, is anyone going to SDCC?

  1. I am going to wait patiently for a wide release! After all, Wydowna's getting her first official release this year, and it honestly doesn't seem that far away when she was first revealed as an official character. Besides, what with my internship, school and life in general, the months will just fly by. :p

    1. It's going to be just over a year I think between Wydowna being the SDCC Exclusive and getting a wide release, so that's not that long! Both Manny and Iris are so specific and involve new molds, so it definitely doesn't make sense that they'd only use those molds ONCE, I'm sure we'll see them again! It is frustrating to have them be released in their basic outfits as an exclusive though, especially for basics only collectors.

I wish Monster High would come to the big convention I go to in Toronto every year, and bring the exclusives! But it's before SDCC, so we never get anything really good, even though it's the 3rd largest comic convention in North America.

    2. So saying, Hoodude has a very unique mold and we've never seen him around, haha. But yes, I think Mattel have started to get a hang of what we fans what, even if they can't/won't deliver on everything we desire. Scarah's outfit is quite close to her basic I feel, and even Wydowna's isn't too far off; the colours may be different, but the styles are similar. So I think perhaps Iris and Manny could luck out in that department as well.

I guess they already visit the two biggest conventions (NYCC and SDCC) that they don't feel the need? That is a bummer. Maybe the organizers should consider moving the date to AFTER those ringleaders.

    3. Hoodude was cloth though, so I wonder if that's the difference with him? A cloth doll like that doesn't really "fit" into the rest of the line, if that makes sense. His trademark was recently renewed in the doll category though, so I wonder if they're working on something. And I agree about Scarah. I have the ILF version and I don't feel the need to shell out for the SDCC version. And I was lucky enough to get Webarella for what they were selling her at SDCC for, but if I hadn't, I'd be happy with her ILF version too!

Also, I lied, it's TOTALLY after SDCC! But it's pretty close, only about a month later so maybe that's it. FanExpo has been on the same weekend for 20 years, so I don't think they're going to be moving any time soon...and New York CC is less than 10 years old, but since they started they've been getting much better stuff (exclusives, guests, announcements) than FanExpo. I think the fact that it's in Canada is the real reason, and less the timing.
