What a Feeling! Art Class Robecca Steam

Back when the Art Class dolls first came out, I knew I really wanted Abbey and Skelita. I actually had someone grab them for me over in the States, and I was really happy with my choices. But then...I saw Robecca once they hit shelves here in Canada, and I've been cursing the high Canadian price ever since. I must have picked her up a dozen times at Wal-Mart or Toys R Us, but at nearly $30, it just seemed like too steep a price. Then TRU had a sale, but they didn't have any Robecca in stock, and when I was disappointed, I knew that I definitely needed her.

So when Wal-Mart had them onsale for $18 this week, I finally got my hands on her!

I definitely don't regret it, so click through to find out why!

Finally! Ghoul Spirit Slo Mo!

I'm just going to cut to the chase here...I found Slo Mo! I've been searching for weeks, checking all the local Wal-Mart's, and popping into Toys R Us whenever I could. But on Friday, we had to head to a mall in a nearby city to replace our cable box, and decided to check out a few other stores, since we were up there. We went to Target and found nothing, then the same at Toys R Us. Then, my husband suggested we check the Real Canadian Superstore (which is like a mega grocery store kind of thing up here) since in the past, I've had good luck finding harder to find new dolls there. We went down the Monster High aisle and there was an employee stocking the other side, and carts full of stuff in front of the MH stuff...I pushed one of the carts aside and saw the Ghoul Spirit dolls, and as I bent down to get a better look, I could see Slo Mo's arm all the way in the back! It's entirely possible I squeaked, pushing the other dolls aside with shaking hands to grab him!

This is maybe the most excited I've ever been to find a single doll, and I hurried to the cash like someone was going to rip him from my hands. When we got outside, my husband said "Let me take a picture of you with him for your blog!" So, enjoy that photo, and one of Mo's cute face, and then click through for the rest of the review!

Life in the Dreamhouse Raquelle

After I picked up Life in the Dreamhouse Midge, it didn't take long for me to go back for this lovely lady! There was only one Raquelle left and she was on clearance, so it was meant to be, right?

What I love about these LITDH dolls, is how much personality each of them has. From Midge's sweet face, to Teresa's goofy grin, all the way to Raquelle's sassy smirk, each of this dolls is entirely their own, and that's a great thing to see! It really captures the fun atmosphere of the webisodes, and makes the dolls stand-out on the shelves.

Lammily: A welcome addition to our doll shelves?

This post is a bit different from the usual content of my blog, but the more I look at what other people are saying about this particular doll, the more I want to weigh in as well.

Discussion of dolls (especially Barbie) and body image is nothing new. As long as there has been Barbie, there have been people who think she's too thin, and that she sets an unattainable standard for little girls that they then feel like they have to live up to. This criticism has also been leveled at Bratz, Monster High, and probably just about any other fashion doll line out there that is marketed towards young girls. There have been attempts made in the past to make larger bodied fashion dolls, and they've never really taken off for various reasons, but artist Nickolay Lamm is giving it another shot.

Meet Lammily, the doll who tells us that "average is beautiful."

Sweet Screams Draculaura

After Scarily Ever After, Powerghouls and now Sweet Screams, the Monster High Target Exclusives have become some of the most well-designed and exciting Monster Dolls on the market! Sweet Screams has just started hitting the shelves in Canadian Target's (and for some reason is labelled 'Killer Kandy' on those shelves, though the boxes do say Sweet Screams) and I resisted for awhile...but I couldn't do it for long. I grabbed Draculaura first, partly because she's the one my mom picked when I was out with her, and partly because of her shoes!

I'm not exaggerating when I say I took over 150 pictures of this doll though...between her pale skin and her highly contrasting outfit, she gave me some trouble. I switched backgrounds and lighting a few times and ended up doing alright, but it was tricky. She's more than worth the effort though!
